About

Why this site exists

I live in Sweden and I go to Viking markets. When friends from abroad asked which one to visit, the answer was always scattered across a dozen organizer websites in four languages and a few outdated lists on jewelry shop blogs. Nobody compared them, nobody said how to get there from the airport, and nobody said which ones are worth a detour.

Viking Season is that comparison. It covers Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland.

How dates are checked

Every date is checked against the organizer's own website and labelled: confirmed, preliminary, not yet verified, or to be announced. Each event page shows when it was last checked and links to the organizer. If we have not visited an event, the page says so.

How the verdicts are written

Each event page ends with "Our take". Where we have been to the event, the page says so. Where we have not, the verdict is built from visitor reviews on Tripadvisor and Google, reenactor forums, travel blogs and the organizer's own program, and the page says that too, with the sources listed. We never describe an event as if we were there when we were not.

How the site makes money

Some links to hotels, tours and tickets are affiliate links. If you book through them, the site earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes which events are listed or what we say about them.

Corrections

Organizers and visitors: if a date, price or detail is wrong, please tell us. Corrections are usually live within a day.
