Iceland has one big Viking festival, in Hafnarfjörður just outside Reykjavík, held every June. It is the easiest Viking festival in the Nordics to add to an existing trip.

Hafnarfjörður, Iceland
The Hafnarfjörður Viking Festival runs for four to six days around mid-June in Víðistaðatún park, fifteen minutes from downtown Reykjavík. It is Iceland's oldest and largest Viking festival, it is free to enter, and it is the easiest Viking festival in the Nordics to fit into an existing trip.
Practical notes for Iceland
- CurrencyISK. Cards and contactless work at almost every stall; cash is rarely needed.
- LanguageEnglish is spoken everywhere at these events. Reenactors from across Europe attend, so you will hear German, Polish and Dutch too.
- WeatherJune and July are usually 15–25 °C (60–77 °F) with a real chance of rain. Bring a layer.
