Vetlanda Viking Market 2027: late May, dates not announced
The Vetlanda Viking Market is held over the last weekend of May in Kvarndammsparken, a park in the centre of Vetlanda in the Småland highlands, about two and a half hours from Gothenburg. Run by the Emådalen Vikings, it is a small early-season market with crafts, combat and music.

What happens
A park in the middle of a small Småland town becomes a Viking camp for a weekend: crafts, combat displays, music and food, organised by the local Emådalen Vikings. It is a community event rather than a destination, but it lands in the quiet weeks between Ale and Gamla Uppsala.
What visitors say
The organizers call it perhaps Sweden’s cosiest market, and the local and national coverage agrees: 3,000 to 4,000 visitors over a weekend, reenactors from Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Norway and Denmark as well as Sweden, and crafts in iron, wood, silver, textile and leather described as good quality. Friday is reserved for the town’s third-graders. Vetlanda is a small town and the market fills its park; there are no tourist reviews because tourists do not come to Vetlanda.
Our take
Vetlanda is a local market with an unexpectedly international field of reenactors, in a pretty town park, in the quiet weeks between Ale and the June festivals. Worth a stop if you are driving through Småland at the end of May, and a nice one. Not worth a detour.

Getting there
Vetlanda is in the Småland highlands, about two and a half hours from Gothenburg and three from Copenhagen by car. Trains reach Vetlanda via Nässjö. The park is in the town centre.
