What happens

Fyrkat is a circular fortress from around 980 with a reconstructed longhouse inside the ramparts and a Viking farm nearby. The market weekend brings traders and reenactors to the fortress field. The museum also runs Easter Viking days in the longhouse and a lantern-lit evening event, Vølvens Verden, in late September.

Getting there

Fyrkat is two kilometres west of Hobro. Aalborg Airport is 45 minutes north, Aarhus 75 minutes south on the E45. Trains stop at Hobro; from the station it is a short taxi ride or a half-hour walk.
