Near Copenhagen
Copenhagen is the best base in the Nordics for Viking festivals. Zealand, Roskilde and the Trelleborg ring fortress are within an hour, and Skåne in Sweden is across the bridge.
Foteviken Viking Market is held in late June at the Foteviken Museum in Höllviken, Sweden, about 50 minutes from Copenhagen Airport across the Øresund Bridge. It is the largest Viking market in Scandinavia, with several hundred reenactors camping on site for four days.
The Trelleborg Viking Festival is held over nine days in mid-July at the Trelleborg ring fortress near Slagelse, an hour west of Copenhagen. It is Denmark's largest Viking festival, with more than a thousand Vikings in some 350 tents and a craft market of over 60 stalls, at a fortress that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2023.
